Museum

The Marietta Museum of History got its start in 1996 and has flourished into what it is today. Now the museum houses the largest collection of Marietta and Cobb County artifacts.

Built in 1845 as a cotton warehouse by John Glover, the building (also known as the "Kennesaw House") has been a Civil War hospital, a morgue, various hotels, restaurants, and office spaces. Because of its hospital and morgue history, the Kennesaw House has been a favorite for ghostly folklore and has been featured on CNN, PBS, and The History Channel.

Our galleries are perfect for both young and old. We house an extensive collection of Civil War artifacts in our Military Gallery which has been a favorite for years. Our Home Life Gallery will bring back memories of ice boxes, ration books, and rotary phones and is always entertaining to show our younger guests. Those are just two of our permanent galleries and we always have something exciting to show our guests. Please follow us on social media to stay up to date with new exhibits and events.
